How Pollfish surveys compare in price

Clearly, before you can launch your survey, you need to research your survey tool. We respect that (research is our field, after all).

It’s likely that as a part of this research you’re checking out how our targeting and capabilities fit your needs and budget, and how our price compares to some of the other leading survey tools in the market.

Survey tools can be a confusing world, and there are a lot of platforms out there that you can choose from. To help you get the right information, we did a side-by-side comparison to show how our pricing stacks up against the competition with a few common considerations made before choosing the right research partner for you.

Broad targeting

If you’re trying to conduct a survey against the general population of the United States, any of these tools will get the job done. You require no targeting and no special narrowing of audience. Any survey tool worth their salt will be able to meet the quota.

However, it’s not likely that your survey needs are this broad. Most people need to narrow the audience into segments that are qualified to answer specific questions.

Screening Question Cost

Screening questions are a common way to narrow in on audience behaviors and beliefs and allows you to disqualify respondents that aren’t a match for the group of people you need to survey.

For example, you could use them if you wanted to only speak to Democrats or people who frequently shop at a specific store. Screening questions would be the perfect way to define this audience at the beginning of the survey.

It’s likely you’ll need the option to add a couple of screening questions to find your target audience, but unfortunately, that’s going to cost you.

Depending on the tool you choose, it might cost quite a bit.

For the same survey, with the option to disqualify respondents, you can see quite a lot of range between Pollfish and some of the other leading survey tools. Google Consumer surveys, which allows up to 4 screening questions, starts at a minimum of $3. And SurveyMonkey Audience offers a pricing range that varies significantly based on your qualification rate. Survata doesn’t even offer more than one screener.

Pollfish has a set price for screening questions, so there isn’t any guesswork in how much it will cost. We charge $0.50 for each—our pricing begins at $1.50 for your first screening question and goes to $2.00 when you use both. We charge for the use of the question, no matter what you choose for target audience size, length of questionnaire, or what your screening question is.

If your screening question disqualifies too many people from the audience, we will stop your survey and our 24/7 support team will suggest targeting parameter changes to increase participation from a qualified audience.

Age and Gender Targeting Cost

Say you don’t need a screening question, just some basic targeting like age, gender, and location.

For example, let’s say you need to target men living in California

Pollfish and Google Surveys both add $0.50 for age and gender specifications. Pollfish’s basic plan includes 17 questions, and charges $0.50 ea for additional questions (up to 25 in total). Google Surveys offers up to 10 questions in total.

On Survata’s basic plan, you can ask a maximum of 6 questions, which would allow you to reach respondents at $1 per completed response in the USA, but may not offer enough questions to get the results you need. To get up to 10 questions, you would need to sign up for their Extended Plan, which allows up to 15 questions, but begins at $2.50 per response and has minimums of $1000 per project.

SurveyMonkey Audience charges premiums on both male respondents ($1.00 for targeting as opposed to $0.50 for women) and for targeting the state, bringing the total cost to more than twice what Pollfish would charge.

Long Questionnaire Cost

As your questionnaire length increases, your provider options decrease. Only Pollfish and SurveyMonkey Audience support longer questionnaires, although the pricing structure is different.

SurveyMonkey Audience offers up to 50 questions broken into six different pricing brackets, charging incrementally more for additional questions, even if all other targeting stays the same.

Pollfish includes 17 questions on the basic plan, with the option to purchase additional questions for $0.50 per completed response up to our maximum 25. Businesses benefit from price breaks by signing up for Business and Enterprise annual plans with even lower CPIs to realize cost-savings on larger volumes or longer surveys.

Geo-targeting Cost

In the same example, say that you only wanted to survey men located in Beverly Hills, 90210.

Your options for survey partners decrease even further if you need advanced geographic targeting.

Most tools support targeting the Country, State, or Regional levels for geographic information. With Pollfish, add options to target by City, US DMA, US Congressional District, Census Region, Zip Code, or even their Geographic Radius— and all at no additional cost.

If you don’t need to narrowly target a demographic category, you’ll still be delivered this information automatically in your results dashboard to segment as needed. You’re able to analyze careers, HHI, marital status, race, and more at the end of every survey.

Survey platforms and buying survey responses are already an uncertain enough process, and we are in the business of providing answers. We’re confident in our capabilities and have nothing to hide when it comes to price.
